Mission to Nepal for the Earthquake Victimskoosj service

We have extended help to an ophanage school in a badly damaged slum area in Pokhara, Nepal.  Note that they are using a lantern in the third picture below because power had been cut off.  

We also helped some brothers in Ghorka, Nepal. We helped families here where most of the structures had collapsed in the earthquake and where they were getting little outside help because of their remote location.

KOOSJ also participated in the "Operation Mercy Relief" in Ghiling Village of Ghami VDC Mustang, Nepal

"Ghiling Village, located at around 3500 meters above the sea level, is one of the ethnic Tibetan populated regions that have been severely affected by the massive 7.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25, 2015, which is te hardest hit in whole Mustang. As being in the remote areas, became isolated and not being given priority in relief operation because of their identity. People either lost their houses or have houses unsafe to live in due to severe damages. They are then staying in the open field being exposed by the extremely cold weather of the highly elevated Himalayas..."

Medical Mission and Outreach to the Street Kids @ Buguias, Benguet Philippines

Around 200 residents of Buguias, Benguet in the Philippines were accommodated in a medical mission, joined by the KOOSJ. The patients were composed of a combination of adults, youth, and kids.

The mission team went around Baguio city to find street kids to minister to them by giving out school supplies, foods, blankets, Bible stories and songs. The experience was animated and inspiring. Here were some of the memories from that ministry:

Benguet was unfortunately hit by a huge typhoon in October 2015, leaving many families homeless while some lost their loved ones from the great flood.

Prince Lot Hula Festival presented by Moanalua Gardens Foundation

Moanalua Gardens Foundation (MGF) is a non-profit organization and has served as a vital link to preserve and protect the environment and cultural resources of Hawaii. Its mission is to “preserve and perpetuate the native culture, environment and people of Hawai`i through education and stewardship of Kamananui (Moanalua) Valley and celebration of the Prince Lot Hula Festival at Moanalua Gardens.”

Founded in 1978, the Prince Lot Hula Festival has been designated a signature cultural event by the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority.  The festival allows thousands of island residents and visitors to experience the beauty and spirit of the Hawaiian culture and history.

Moanalua Gardens is a 24-acre (97,000 m²) privately owned public park in Honolulu, Hawaii. The park is the site of the Kamehameha V Cottage which used to be the home of Prince Lot Kapuaiwa, who would later become King Kamehameha V.  It is also the site of the annual Prince Lot Hula Festival.  2015 marks it 38^th  Annual Hula Festival, sharing the history and culture of Hawaii through Art and Music.

2015 became the premier of a 2 day Prince Lot Hula Festival

Moanalua Gardens Foundation could now enter more Hula Halaus to this Ceremony

The Orthodox Order of Knights of St. Johns Russian Grand Priory was

Honored to perform the Opening Ceremony of this Special Day.

Reaching Out the Street Kids in the Philippines (Cebu and Bicol)koosj service

During the first half of the year, two worthwhile missions took place in the Philippines. One in the typhoon-prone province in Bicol and the other in Cebu, which is one of the cities in the Philippines that has the most street kids. The main commodities provided were foods, school supplies and construction supplies.

Bicol: The kids and an old couple received gifts of school supplies

and construction supplies from KOSJ after the typhoon.

Cebu: Happy with their new school supplies, the street kids still remained blessed

and see things positively in spite of poverty.

The kids were also eager to learn about God and His Word

150th Anniversary Celebration Beginskoosj events

The first event in a year-long celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I, founded by Lot Kapuaiwa, Kamehameha V on April 11, 1865, was held today in what would have been his palace, Ali‘iolani Hale, the present State Judiciary Building.
